Rick ArnIIiz 11481 and Bruce Johnson 1261 put Hilla Ferry to the telIt. By W. H. Spencer NEWMAN , CA , NOV . 4 With no sign of winter rains yet approaching, Hills Ferry Raceway is attempting to extend their normal flat track season right to A couple of Old TImer•• Nathan Hou.e11411 and Leon Cable 14701 go to it at Woodland. 28 hold his lead for the first moto by fighting off challenges from · Kevin . Meyers (Hon), Robby Clark (Hon) and Skeet Hise (Yam), the chesire grinner. Monte Mitchell, riding a Maico, held second place for six laps until he tired and finished in sixth spot, after just coming back after a layoff. Hise was 11th going around the first tum.' He looked as good as only he can when he wants to tum it on . The second moto was a different story for Wing as he over-rode the tum off at the stan and spent some time talking to tree braches, By the time he got back in it he was last but managed to pick up five positions before the tower. Wing couldn't get any higher than 11th by mote's end though to finish fifth overall for the day. Meanwhile Hise rocketed off the line to hold a solid third and paced himself to the overall win. This will help in standing for the Gresham Toyota Pro Series purse at season's end. Darryl Baker (Hon) rode impressively in second spot the whole moto to put together two motas for a second overall. Meyers rode to a third and Jeff Howard, riding for Hillsboro Suzuki, rode to a good fourth place after not riding for quite awhile. The Open Pro class was won by Phil Larsen (Mai) followed by Skeet Hise (Yam) . and Monte Mitchell (Mai) riding for Gresham Suzuki.' Results PEE WEE: 1. larry Werd (!tj); 2. Shane Comer"" (Suzl . The turnout reflects that flat track racing isn't quite dead. A restruc tured quarter-mile din oval (that was traction city) greet the nearly 150 riders and those that brought Carlisle's along with their DT-ll 's had the best Tun. Mini madness continues, with lots of Salinas riders coming over the hill into ' the central San Joaquin Valley to haul back the brass. Tony Mitchell and Dean Vincelet continue the short track 60cc Novice battle while Kelly Fischer found a 60cc Jr/Ex class to win . Charlie Venegas put the rancho boys from Vallejo int o the winner's circle with a first over Jason Paoli while local boy Woody Rogers had the 80ccJunior to himself. Chris Carr and the Cal Cycle Yamaha led all of the 80cc Expert except the one that counts (which is the last lap). Kurt Chandler came off the line in fourth to work his way past Aaron Hill and Carr to win the big one for Salinas Yamaha , his mom . and more points toward a top 10 slot on the Mini Black Plate list. Carr wasn't putting up with any passing stuff from the 100cc Experts and wiped out the competition for more points toward his number two ranking. Brian Pedro started off the Sportsman competition by easily winning the 100cc Nov /jr while the "Cisco Kid ," Kevin , won the 125cc Junior and Wil tiam Lee Scott Dickerson kept Steve Nunes at bay for the 250cc Novice win . Billy Scott chalked up another one of his famous double wins with a thriller in the 250cc Junior over Don Martin, Pat Seigle and Dean Coca, Billy then backed it up with another big one in the 500cc Junior on . his SK Cycles Yamaha. The kid should be a top contender for rookie Expert honors in the coming Black Plate season . A passle of 250cc Experts has been the usual case this year and the top ranked pros graduate out of this class , Brian Thompson proved to be the best, once again rid ing the Hayward Yamaha /Jim Dieu prepared scooter to a big win over Mike- Inderbitzen and Jimbo Filice . Rick Arnais, Bruce Johnson, and Thompson were first out but a red flag created a restart and it ~ was Thompson's show from there. Inderbitzen and Jimbo hooked up for , the best passing show with the 15-yearold's NO sparked Yamaha nearly nipping Mike at the checkered. ) Pat Seigle and Chuckle Aksland had a good ·ba ttle in the 360cc Junior show with Seigle the winner by inches, while I Rick Delacy and the Yamaha World 360 still dominate the Expert class. Mark Key, the former Mini Black ) Plate kid is showing his promise with a ~ good 500cc Expert win over old man Dennis Kritzer. Garber won the first moto, but couldn't stay on his motor long enough to win the next one. He worked his way up to second, fell off and got up in last place, picked up his bi ke and started after O'Dell again. Although he had to settle for second that was enough for the overall win. Division II of the 250cc Novices saw Ken Gray go 3-1 motos for the win even with strong competition from Mark Stirley (Hon). Larry Coatney picked up a new sponsor from Valley Cycle Supply and proved he 'could win I
