Charlie just takes th em as they com e and for a man of 46 . still can look forward to many yea rs of competition . At a rock face in sect ion two ne a r Cub Creek , many riders oversho t the tu rn . Sitting there, way ahead of time , was King Richard himself. He had to enjoy himself at this po int even t hough his speedo had gone south . He had a prime view as the less ta lented riders foug ht their way up the face. O n one occasion , a rider was ma king his way u p th e section which has to move you directiona lly rig ht again and another rider, a bi t impatient , .decided to hit the fa ce . Hannon on t he YZ pu lled a simi lar move to pa ss a no the r rider on th e fa ce , but his timing was perfect to effect the pass with no cont act. Hannon does look smoot h on the blu e bik e. The weather did a fine job all day as the event wound its way from 500' to nea r 4 ,200'. At Porter Cr eek tra il, t he even t could have had its first serious problem , A C rider on an ITI75 blitzed a fast sweeper only to lose soil when he went wid e and over a cliff into a ravine nearly 75 ya rds below . He bailed in time , onl y to slid e down to h~s bike. If. it had been the other way arou nd th e ta le would not read well . He rode the bike b ac k b ut not u nt il six g ro wn men pushed and clawed and swea ted the bl ue machine back to the top . J BrianJohnson (Suz), a B rider when . he began the run , became an A rider at event's end with th e exce llen t ride he turned in . _ J The clu b does ha ve a few th ings to learn a nd like Sanford said , if th ey onl y could be run the sa me across the country. The locals are used to th eir wa y. The Pros go from on e area to another and need to ha ve consistent events. The one big improvement thi s cl u b could employ would be time -in check at each check , This was dul y noted and will be used next yea r. No one disliked th e la yout of th e co u rse .
