Aft er get t ing back on track , the C rse eventually hopped on to a roa d ou and cooked d o wn a sandwash , catching sight of Koehn Dry Lake;lIt was here that the course was altered again, this tim e they removed nearly a quarter mil e of ri bbon which kept riders in th e sandwash instea d of tu rning right a nd ou t. Mo rgan Mal occo (400 IT) and McCasland wer e Ijuick to reali ze the Erob lem and cut right , p icking up t he trail. The firs t rider through the pit was Beisner. Mike Martin (390 Hus) trying to make up time at this .point after his 10 u nscheduled excu rsions . Richa rd Zaj ic (250 Torque Master Suz ) was still running up front as he left the pits and headed for Government Peak. R ight after the crossing Hwy . 395 ca me two hil ls and a windy sandwash that led you over som e cross grain desert. Following t he trail a few miles they put you on a road and then a sandwash that was fast and narrow until the alternate pi t. '( IU ter som e hills and a windy sandwash . the course ran cross grain in . the general d irection of a railroad car. O nce reach ing the tracks , you were led down and under to a small tunnel. Walking your bik e under was the best ~. ay but there were some variations . After emerging and running parallel ~i th the track they ran back under, th is tim e you cou ld sit up and gas it.
