The second rnoto was Hannah's 'from start to finish. It looked for a moment like DeCoster might catch Hannah to make the race as interesting as the first rnoto, but after just four laps DeCoster ret ired with an inj}lred leg . Staten was running second with Roger out, but Noyce was pushing hard and Staten decided it was best to let Noyce past when he realized a third place was still good enough for the overall win . Of note was the appearance of a few new California riders to the TransAMA's last races. Honda was giving J im Gibson , injured in the 250cc Nationals last summer, a tryout ride .on Brad Lackey's practice RC-450, Jeff Jennings, on the Wheelsmith Maico, and Pat Richter, on the Moto -X Fox Suzuki , were also back in action. 250cc Support One of the few high points of the weekend was the fact that Ron Pomeroy won the Support class on his CR '250 Honda , sponsored by big brother Jim Pomeroy. Ron has been racing the entire Series, but has ' been suffering such miserable luck that he has hardly made the results sheets. "I twisted my ankle in the first mota while I was leading. That kind of messed up my rhythm and I didn't think I could hold off Reid," said Pomeroy . ~ , ' ') But Pomeroy did hold off series leader Warren Reid for the first mota win after taking the lead in the opening laps . "In the second mota I knew who the riders were I had to beat and I could ' kind of back off and relax some. It helped when Marty Moates 'went out with a flat tire. I beat out Warren for the overall win by just one point. I'm really stoked! This IS the first race I've won.
