From here on out the promotions will be handled between two really fin e clubs. Continental Moto -spor ts Club has been here , for years now and the ir events are held on the first and th ird Sundays of the month . Jack Barbacovi and t he California Ra cing Club will take over the park on the remaining second and ~ fourth weekends. Factory Yamaha rider Jeff Ward was the star of the l25cc Pro class and he faced a small but tough class. Ward was able to win both motos and claim the first place cash prize but was hassled somewhat by Cole Brothers' star Rick " Rocket" Mak i. In th e da y's acti on he came close to lead ing Ward but the speed ing Yamaha was u nstoppab le . Maki on his Suzuki kicked on the rest of the pa ck and stopped cold both Danny Agu ilo (Yam ) and Mike Rinaldi (Suz) . Rid ing under th e Hiiesalu shock absorber ba nne r. Rob ert Gr een was victorious in the same manner that Jeff Wa rd was, with two first place wins an d an overall victory . Green's reward was that of a huge trophy and the l25cc Intermed iate win . He had to push it and speed ahead of Michael Hudson who landed second and ot hers such as Pete Rinaldi , Bill Gilleran , Matthew Zigeler an d Bart H itt. Jay Springsteen takes the National Championship with a dramatic win of the Ascot Half-Mile on Carlisles . His 3rd straight championship, Carlisle's 3rd straight Ascot win. Not a bad year's work.
