came face to face with the most intricate dam system I've ever seen . It resembled Japanese landscaping as the water from Doxford Creek entered this section and became plateaus of water ponds. They son of staircased left and right, held by the thinnest barrier imaginable but didn't leak a drop. Len said it was a beaver complex but . none could be found. I said, "Let's check out that big trap we found the last time up." (Last June, without camera for fear w«.would n't survive the trip let alone any extra equipment, we made our 6tst trip to the top. When we entered die flat pasture we noticed a horrible smell coming from the bi$' pines to the right. Entering with caution, we came across a cubicle of aspen logs approximately 5' x 5' x 4' . In the back of the complex was the dead carcass of a sheep secured with wire cable . Len arted to enter and investigate but hesitated. Looking down, nestled under pine needles, we found a trap big enough to hold Godzilla. Between the quiet, the feeling of being totally - alone and the spectre of what in the hell were they trying to trap, without a word we fired up the trials bikes and it looked like a two man desert race all the way down the mountain .) Well the dried up carcass was still there sans the smell thank goodness and the quarter inch cable holding the trap was severed and the trap gone. T-hanks to the .44 Magnum on my hip , we didn't leave as quickly as we did the last time. -'lW e went a few miles more until we reached Magleby's Reservior and the din road that leads down the backside of the mountain to Koosharem and . ~hway62 . Monroe's altitude is 5,382 feet , We were standing at 10,168 and gasping. No, really it was clear, quiet and just plain beautiful. -" prinking in the sights for the last time , we'fired up the trusty bikes for theeasy tiek home. Jwt past the Fishlake National Forest sign there is a manmade lade and a place called the Hawks Nest . There you can catch trout or drink beer and watch someone else catch trout. On down the hill is a camping area with a big pool. There is . also a natural hot spring you can soak out'the aches in . ~ fl you're into tubes and skinny . dippin', the canal is the answer. Leave a car. at Richfield, drive another one up "to Elsinore. jump in and float to your heart's content. & They are having their problems with t e Bureau of Land Management here also. The dictators are trying to close off land to hunters unless they want to wallt. In one instance, a huge segment of'Jand was up for closure and the ~ple raised so much hell the BLM dcoded to set up a day where the ~ple could go to the BLM office and voice their opinion. The people anted a public hearing but the BLM vould not hear of it because in Utah. everybody shows up at a public learing. Well. the BLM set the day for me people to come to the office but failed to advertise what day to show tp. The hearing day passed, nobody mew about it and the land got closed. The last I heard, the people have rai~d such a fuss the dictators are folding off lest a riot breaks out and mother hearing is in the making.
