(Above) liIft to right are Graham Noyce. Gaylon Mosier. Roger DeCoster . and Pierre Karsmakers. (Below) Brad Lackey scored second overall. down in m id -pack after the start and would oniy recover his way back up to ruth place . .,.Instead . it would be Mikkola 's shadow who' would haunt th e Hurricane. Lackey snared the lead , this . tim e pursued by Staten, Swartz, Shultz, Adams , then Hannah , an a bo u r- ro -b e-d espo ked- ag ai n Chuck Sun, Kessler and Weinert. Left at the rear of the pack :were Sm ith, Howerton and DeCoster who were victims of first lap confrontations with other riders. While Lackey . held the lead , keeping the fans bug-eyed , finger pointing and hoarse with his crossups off the fifth gear ski jump, Hannah kep t his coals shoveled to the boiler and closed the gap toward the front . Even Rex Staten couldn 't hold ba ck Hannah for long. Then before the ha lfway point he was whisking his way around Lackey for -t he lead . Hannah would hardly pull out more than a five -second lead over Lackey for. the remainder of t he race , but Bob was once aga in calcu la ti ng the minimu m margin he needed to ho ld to win safely. Already he had shown he coul d pull th ree seco nds a la p on Brad if nee ded. The checkered flag' waved for the second tim e and the result sheet once again had Hannah on top , tailed by Lackey and Staten. Darrell Shultz m ight ha ve claimed fourth , but found neutral in his Maico's gearbox wh ile negotia ting the tricky sta irstep downhill and bailed over the bars on the next -to -last lap. Torao Suzuki on the factory Montesa, after a good ride . in moto one, performed even better in round two to hold off Marty Tripes and cla im fourth spot for his best finish yet . . With two races and four motos already won in this year's seven-race T rans -AMA Series , the question remaining is no longer will an American win the series, but will Bob Hannah win every race? 2&Occ Support The Team Honda duo of Steve Wise and Warren Reid were obviously the class act to follow again this week . Moto one saw the rwo kick down the sta rti ng ga te and disappear in freight train style with the lead and the race. Warren led the firs t rwo laps and Wise led the rest . . Ba ck in the . d ust, LOP's Marty - . lAbove) Steve WIse leads 260cc class winner Warren Reid. (Below) Torso Suzuki (166) heads out of a turn first while 'Mickey Kessler gets hung up. Moates held third spot for awhile before falling. Greg Theiss moved his privateer Honda into thi rd, holding off National Champion Broc Glover who couldn't seem to shake LOP's other rider , Mark Gregson . The Turner duo, Ron and Danny. looked hot for awhile as they ran as high as sixth before maladies like broken spokes put them out. Steve Wise wanted to go for his second overall win in nIo weeks, but the fa te which befell others befell him as well. A broken rear wheel robbed Wise of his lead midway through the second moto after stealing it from Many Moates in the opening laps. Moates was suffering carburetion problems with his Honda and dropped back again as Reid went flying past for the lead. "After I got by Moates I put my throttle to .the max for three laps. Then I , saw Steve slow up with is broken wheel, so I went just fast enough to stay ahead of Broc," said Warren. Mechanic Merle Anderson kept Reid in tu ne on how far behind Glover was as he dialed his CR250 Honda the remaining distance to the overall win . Many Moates held onto third ahead of Theiss, Kawasaki's Micir.ey Boone, Kip Pierce, Luffs Ron Turner and MotoX Fox'sJim Turner. ' • Results !iOOcc INTBlNATIONAl.: I . Bob Hemoh I-I lVom); 2.
