License 'The evening was fi lled with excitement, disappointments, and soine very close calls. The fans were standing for most of the evening for everyone wanted to see the close finis hes . Ma ny nort hern riders came down to ride the event and for m any it paid off, as ' mo st of the night the northern rid ers dominated the races. But as the night wore down, so did the riders , and the southern boys were able to ca tch up a nd even things out . T h ree rid ers were having a perfect evening until event 23 when Mik e Bast was d isqual ified for breaking the sta rt ing tape . Denny Pyeatt went on to win that eve nt an d rema in s und efeated . Bobby Schwartz conti n ued his tota l d om ination of a ll his heat s. Event 30 co n ra in ted Schwartz , Bill Cody, Mike Fa ria a nd Mike Ba st , In turn one , all four riders met in on e big push wh ich s';w " W ild Bill" go down , and in th e last lap Schwartz passed Bast on th e outside of turn th ree and remained in first place for the balance of the race. Although there were only thirty-two event s slated, there was a thirty-third event , a run off between the two only undefeated riders Bobby Sch wa rt z and Denny Pyeatt . In turn one Den ny went . in like he was goi ng to sh ut out Bob by. However in tu rn three Bob by took over the lead a nd went on to vict ory a nd rem ain the on ly u nd efeated rider. T his was Bobby's first tim e on th e track a nd win ning the way he d id in the co ndition he is in (a broken wrist and an injured shoulder) showe d that hfis a tru e champion . T op scorers for t he eveni ng were Bobby Sch wa rtz and Denny Pyea tt with 12 points.
