Shawn Parker of Michigan was the onl y 1977 champion to defend his title when he reclaimed the 85cc (7-11 years old) Minibike class crown on Saturday. Ben Bishop of Georgia failed in his bid to retain the 360cc Amateur class title which he claimed in last year's championships at Wichita. Kansas. Bishop was dethroned by Matt Rozowicz of New York . Rozowicz, who was also fifth- in the 250c c Amateur class final . runs the trickey Afton Fairgrounds quarter mile on a regular . basis in programs put on by the Square Deal Rid ers who were also sponsors of the National. Although Chandler was the only multiple winner . NY , AUG . 19·20 38 Doug Chandler is only 12 years old, but he marked his name as one to remember when he swept four national titles in an in credible riding display at the AMA National Amateur Short Track Championships. The California grade schooler rode four different Yamahas to win the 85cc .(12-15 years old) a nd IOOcc (7·15 years old) minibike ' titles in Saturday's: competition and then returned on Sunday to grab two more titles inainateur action. Chandler won the 100 and 125cc Amateur class titles in style on Sunday advancing to the finals with a heat race win and a second pla cing in th e 100cc class' and a second pla ce fin ish and a semi win in 125cc act ion .
