America n Minicycles Summer Series. as riders entered their classes with most only a few points apart . . Walter Armendariz holeshot the Junior Cycl e Modified Intermediate class, knowing he had a slig ht edge o n hi s cl osest competitor , Ray Swearinger. Not to be underestimated. Swearinger put his Suzuki in gea r and m oved in o n Armendariz . until he saw his chance o n the downhill and took co n t r ol n eve r to relinquish it. Swearinger fin ish ed the night with a II ri de . and the series win . The tables turned in th e Stock class , as Armendariz ro ck et ed to the finish , leaving Swearinger a few points behind for second . Equally as clo se in their la st night of com peti tio n were 85cc 9-11 Juniors Gary Szilagyi (Verd . Suz .) and Jason W agner (Yam . of Monrovia) . Szilagyi raced out of st a te the previous week , while Wagner sta yed on the home front to pi ck up some ext ra points. Szilagyi gave it his all in the first moto, as .W ag n er kept the heat on in a co nsta n t effort for another win . Lar ry Turner made some swift moves to take seco nd from Wagner. but Wagner kn ew wh ere he had to place and rema in ed in second . Suz.) heralded the second spot in the Mini Open. along wit h a couple of three-foot trophies for topping the Stock Intermediate and Junior Cycle Experts.
