Open Pro action featured a battle
between future Fox teammates Jim
Turner (Suz) and Larry Wosick
(Tam/Mai). In round one Neil Snarr
(Suz), Curt Wilcox (Yam) , Jim Turner
and Dave My then led the tightly
bunched field off the starting gate.
Turner had his sights set on the lead as
he passed Wilcox on lap four , then
proceeded to reel in the wiry Snarr.
Turner rode smoothly to soon steal the
lead. After a mid-pack start, Wosick
-was riding only as Wosick can. His
Maico's power was picking off riders
with ease, and he quickly found
himself on Turner's rear fender. "Larry
then flew by Turner to take the
checkered nag. Following the dynamic
duo home was Jerome Hieburger
(Mai), Kip Classen (Ki'1l) and Neil
Snarr.
Rory Rundle (Mai) surprised
everyone but himself as he gassed it off
the line to lead the Open Pro final.
Hieburger was the first to get by, then
came Wosick, Turner and Classen
passing Rundle. Midway through the
moto, Wosick had snatched the lead
from Hieburger with Turner, Classen,
Losh and Rundle trailing. Turner
aggressively forced ~i~ way past
. Hieburger to secure a firm second
behind Wosick. When the day's final
checkered was waved overall Pro
scores saw Wosick taking four moto
wins on the .d ay. Open money went to
Wosick (1·1), Turner (2·2), with Kip
Classen(4·'), third.
