Vesco had not planned to bring the double·KZlooo-engined. turbocharged streamliner back for a second run. but when he learned of the speed. he changed his mind. The wind. however. came up before he could make the second run for an official record. That was Thursday. The Roadless Area Review and Evaluation (RARE II) wilderness inventory. which has been moving foward completion for almost a year. is now in the closing weeks of public review . The Draft Environmental Imllaet Statement (DEIS) and 20 regional supplements describing the practical and "site-specific" roadless areas that could ultimately be designated wilderness have been ID the public's hands for abf;mt 45 days. The close of the designated comment period is Oct. 1 when all interested groups are expected to have completed their information gathering and submitted their suggested changes. Of critical interest to trail biken is the possibility that traditional riding may be in cl u d ed within those areas id en tifi ed as having wilderness potential. Riden who suspect that their riding area may be included in the RARE 11 review should consult the regional supplement for their state.
