Mitchell ca me off the line in th e first 250cc moto and was so far out front into the first turn he m issed the pictures. That was the way it went for the II laps . The only rider to have him in sight was Mike Kinnear for second and third. Troy Folck (H us) got a poor start and was laying 10th at the first lap, but by the second lap he was up to seventh, and by moto's end had shown his rear kno bbies to all but the first and second place posit ions. Jansen dueled with Kinnear all the way and made a pass two laps from the end to come in second. Mitchell took th e flag with almost half a track clear behind him. The second moto was a repeat as Mitchell got the lead and pulled everyone bu t Folck and they put on a show for the whole moto . Rob by Clark (Yam) ca me alive after a fifth place in the first mo to to give chase, and Boyd Smith (Yam) also pulled to within dueling distance of the leaders , When the very mi nimal d ust settled it was Mitchell for the overall win , Folck second , J a nsen third and Clark fourth. Open Pros wheeled to th e line a nd George Howland brought them off in fine formation and again Mitch ell a nd his Maico wheelied into the lead . He was not to hav e it all his way th is time as Barney Newman (Mon) sta yed right th ere and it was a lead swa~ ~ he ent ire . . , , race . Meanwhile, C la y Az ar ,' riding for Garners Yamaha , was rig ht there and m oving as was Jerry Pillar (Yam), and they didn't settle anything till the flag . It was Azar third and Pillar fourth. Mitchell managed a second. Off the line the second time it was tight between Newman and Mitchell. Mitchell pulled ahead with Newman on his tail. Another battle emerged, b ut then , on lap four, somet hing shook th e Montessa a nd Ba rn ey was out of it. Mitchell went on for the win and the overa ll. Clay Azar took second, Jerry Pillar th ird and Carl Co le fourth. The 125cc Pro class has been watching J im Anderson a lot lately, all from behind . Anderson. riding for Vancouver Suzuki, has matured into a very serious racer. and the first moto saw him take the lead off the line and hold it for the entire 10 laps. Bria n Hall (Suz) was running right with him , b ut fell to a fourth place finish. Kevin Lane (Suz) moved by Hall to take over second and held it to the flag . Clay Azar (Yam ) poured the coa l to the mono and passed several riders to make up for a poor start and finished third. • The second moto had a little different beginning. Da rryl Zu mstein (Hon) decided to scare Anderson a little bit and ran in first for two la ps. By the third lap Anderson said bye an d was gone. Clay Azar caught fire an d also passed Zums tein a nd they trained to the flag . Ove ralls for the day went Anderson , Azar, Zumstein and Lane. Results MINI J R: 1. Shawn Powell {Suzl; 2.
