Gerig was gassing it only to have Tami thunder by him as the two rounded the turn at the top of the downhill . Tami held the lead for the remainder of the race with David finishing in second. Jewell again got a third . Gerig garnered the first . place money. Tim Tolar (Cross Up Suz) was the first rider to round the Suzuki Tower turn to begin the 250cc Pro action. Tim had the lead for the first two turns when Dave "Works" Miller smoked his Honda CR250R around him to devastate the competition. Dave opened up an incredible lead. Tony Gomez (Yam) moved to second on the second lap with a lot of pressure coming from third -place Tolar. Steve Rhyan (Cross Up Suz) kept his mount in fourth. Tolar took second away from Gomez on the fifth lap with Rhyan doing it to Gomez on the ninth. On the last lap the leaders were Miller, Tolar, Rhyan , Gomez, Fritz Schlegal (Suz) and Gregg Young (Han). The moto two holeshot was taken by Schlegal with Tolar and Miller riding ahead of Lee Ramage (OP Hon) and Gomez. Tolar had the lead by the end of the first lap with ' Miller in second and Fritz riding third. On the fourth lap Tolar and Miller were flying over the ledge and Miller landed first , taking the lead. At this point in the mota it looked as if Miller was going to do it again . .. he had the lead for two more laps when the cha in came off the Honda and Tolar , captured the lead again. Tim blasted around the course for the last seven laps of the race to end up as the overall winner. Schlegal finished the race in second with Rhyan in third. Gomez, Ramage and Dusty Lunde's dad Chuck finished next. Flying Machine Factory Suzukiriding Randy Hess was the Rocketrnan in the 125cc Pro division. Randy hauled buns off the line and around the track in both motos and to get the overall points and the major part of the payback. Terry Sheckell (Suz), Tim Tolar (X-UP) , Escondido Suzuki's Scott Anderson , Roo riding Tony Gomez, and Cole 'Bros.' Alex Downs were the followers. Tolar took second place away from Terry on the third lap. By the fifth lap it looked to be a parade with Hess as the leader. Tolar was second and Sheckell and Downs were ahead of Gomez. Anderson had dropped out of the race with engine problems. Hess spent the entire second mota dealing with Sheckell as the two smoked around the Crlsbad outback. Tolar made it for a few laps when a broken chain gave him another 125cc class DNF. Anderson rode third until the last of the race when his mount again started giving him problems. Tony Gomez moved the Roo to third and Downs finished the race in fourth.
