Kawasaki riders Gaylon Mosier and Jimmy Weinen reced in the USGP under special dispensation since Mosier normally rides a 125cc Kwacker in AMA National competition and Weinen is signed up for the 260cc class under the 78 AMA rule that prohibits riders from competing in more than one displacement category. Thus. neither was given an official finishing position. Gaylon. however. would have finished eighth overall by placing 9-16. He dropped from sixth to 16th in the second moto after a rear shock problem developed. The 'Jammer DNF the first moto with breke problems. then scored an 11th in round two. a placing that would have tied him with Graham Noyce at 21st. Kawasaki's 500cc class ride r, T exan Steve Stackable, passed up the USGP un der doctor's orders, Stack twa nged his knee at the Texas 500cc National on the previous weekend; it remains to be seen whether he'll be abl e to race the next series event at Sean Point.
