O'Rourke was the only one with any breath ing room whatsoever as everyone crowded together in a mad duel for second. Stromberg finall y managed to break away and found some space in second. Coming up over Coors Ridge. Ed Cummuns (Ca pita l Yam) had moved in to third and was battling Stromberg for second. Coming in for the checkered flag. Cummuns made one final stab at a pass for second and went down. Taking the flag. O'Rourke came home for the rnoto win as well as overall. Stomberg held second for the rnoto, and Shultz took third. It was Moural 's second win of the evening as Ch ico riders gathered 11 of the 27 trophies awarded . In the 250c c Expert final , Ken Gray (Bul), 1977 Cyclel and 250cc Expert High Point champ. took the lead for the first two laps, but from the third lap on the track belonged to Moura!. Gray edged Sudberry for secon d and Mike McA voy (Ya m) was fourth. In th e first final of th e night , 80cc Novices, Junior Tim Aston (Ya m) led from start to fin ish . He was followed by Novices Ro ger Heemsbergen (H on) and W a lt Bevins (Ya m) . Mike Cagl e (Suz). '77 Cycleland 100cc Min i High Point Co -Winner. an nexed the 100cc Expert fina l with a wire-to-wire ride. Cagle was th e only trophy winner in the class . In th e 125c c Novice m ain , Mike Sni der (Hon) was first . re pe a ting last week's win over ru nner- u p Ma rk Gilbert (Suz) . Don Roberts (Suz) edged Vance Lee for th ird . Bill SCOll (Yam) bested the 250cc Novice ma in. Dir ck Sauer (Yam) was second followed by Geor ge Cummins (Ya m) , David De Bock (Suz) and Bruce Sm ith (H ·D). Chico rid ers provid ed the compet it ion in th e 200 cc Junior final as Mike Egb ert (Yam) won over Randy Scoll (Bul). Egb ert went to the front at th e gr een flag and never looked back as SC fou ght it ou t with the pack for Oll second.
