Howell next. Pete Wanket , who has
been ou t of ra cing for months with a
broken leg , had his Yamaha in hot
pursuit of th e leaders. Geri g gra b bed
th e lead on lap two putting J ewell into
seco nd to deal with Howell. Bob
Maxw ell (Ma i) a nd Wanket spe nt
some time dicing it out. On th e 10th
lap . Wanket went for t he gusto getting
by J ewell, and Maxwell finishing th e
race onl y a few bik e lengths behind
Gerig. Maxwell , a t the end of the moto
went back to his pit and had to repla ce
15 re ar sp okes.
Geri g cha lked up another in his

pretty hot racin g happen ing each tim e

leader. Miller ca p tu red the lead on th e
