Kenny Roberts won the May 14 500cc World Championship road race at Mugello, Italy in a time of 59:17 for the 29-lap, 94.51 mile event on his works Yamaha. Suzuki riders filled the next four slots with Pat Hennen showing Marco Lucchinelli, Steve Baker and Barry Sheene the way home. On the AMA National Enduro Dick "King Richard" ~urleson topped the May 14 lonesome Pine National Enduro in Bristol, VA with a 3O-point loss. Team Suzuki's Ted Worrell slid in close behind the Husqvarnamounted Burleson, dropping 31 points for the AA class win. George Peck lSuzl and Kevin lavoie (KTMI tied for the best ride circuit, among A classers, 34 points each. KTM-mounted Frank Wilson headed the B class. The Santa Clara County Chapter of Motorcycle Owners, Riders and Enthusiasts and the Bay Area Chapter of the Off-Road Vehicle Coalition are co-sponsoring a car pool and caravan to the May 25 BLM Wilderness planning session in San Franciso.
