Everyon e in th e crowd knew nothi ng wou ld hold back H annah as he made quick work of Ellis and Eierstedr , setting out after Marty's 10second lead to cu t it d own a t a rat e of one seco nd a lap . As th e hal fway flag was shown by the sta rter, H annah had caught T ripes . T he cro wd tore down th e fenci ng border in g th e course as th ey waved th e two on . Bob tried to edge a wheel around Marty, hut cou ld n't . Tripes was making good his prom ise to give H an nah hell in t he second race , ~u t befor e a nyt h ing more cou ld lieco me of th e battle Marty began slowing down a nd Ha n nah was disappearing with the lead . 'It seized ," Marty sai d as he pushed his way back to the p its. The crowd began filing th eir way home , kn owing t he real rac e was over. They d id mi ss a good battle betw een Chuck Sun a nd Jim Gibson for th ird and betwee n W ein ert and Karsmakers for fifth , but t hey knew the real racing was over. Glover dea lt 'ou t a not he r holesh ot with th e J im Fel t wrenched racer as Barnett took u p seco nd again ahead of Chandler and Ward . At a bo u t th e halfway point . somethi ng ha p pe ned. Mark Barnett got a b urr u nder his sadd le and began closing on Glover a t a steady pace t ha t ha d him ridi ng th e yellow Yamaha 's rear fender with two laps to go . Ma rk was ready to m ak e his cha llenge for th e lea d . " I got tired on th e next to last lap . a nd missed a gear go ing into thi s tight turn ." sa id Barnett . " My bik e lost spee d a nd fell over .,That got me reall y mad to b low it ju st th en , so I jumped up a n d went after Broc. " With on ly a lap and a half to go and some 12 seco nds behind Gl over , Barnett ha d nothin g to lose as he banzai 'd his wa y a fte r Gl over a nd th e lead . In a wild rid e that even Hannah would have a hard time duplica tin g . Mark a nd his Mark J oh nson -tuned Suzuki RA -125-78 were teari ng the track a pa rt as he ca ugh t and pa ssed Glover for th e mot a and th e overa ll win fo r the second week in a row. The fans went wild again . Team Suzuki went wild . Certain members of Team Yamaha were shaki ng their heads in d isbel ief.
