Team Husqvarna's fortune went from bad to worse when team members Wallingsford and Rick Finger dropped out Sunday with reponed transmission problems. Husqvarna's fortune suffered another blow when John Pavich, still doing extremely well , had th e reed valve petals in his 390 motor go south , causing the bike to run richer and richer until it finally quit 15 miles from th e end. Cordis Brooks lost his cha nee of catching Hannon when he hit onecheck a minute past his grace. The higher speed averages - 28 to 30 mph as compred to 24-28 the day before were taking route points from many contestants. Brooks had 60 points added to his score for the one minute late. ' - - rl Cranke, riding his first Ca qualifier on the YZ Yamaha, fell off his Gold on Sunday when he incurred a·-300-point penalty. Still , his times were so good that he only missed a Gold Medal by about seven seconds. Without the penalty, he would have been second in the 500cc class. When the results were tallied Sunday evening , Fishback had the SOOcc class win by 97 .80 points over Husky Automatic rider A .C . Bakken. Desert racers Terry Davis (Yam), Lee Scheffers (Yam) and Mike Keen (Hus) followed in the order. In the 250cc class, Hannon topped Bill Tarling by 53.65 seconds. Yamaha -mounted Chuck Miller maintained a hot pace for third , 66 .35 points back. Brooks was fourth . Powell had little trouble in the 350cc class , finishing ahead of fellow club member Cameron by nearly 200 points. Suzuki rider Jerry Jackson was the only other finisher in the class , earning a Silver. In the squeaker of the weekend, Ingalls came on strong Sunday to edge Zimmerman for the top spot. Charlie Hamill (Yam) was 55 .70 'poin ts behind , followed by Mike Goodwin (Yam) and Tom Rafalski (Yam) . Wilh - his- rear wheel problems , Haney slipped to Silver. Phill Smith never lost his control of the 125cc class , 165 .05 points ahead of KTM -mounted Washingtonian Joe Klokkevold .
