Darren ' Pritchett was through next with Heath Hibbard (400 Yam), Al Wurtzel , Chris Kallen and a sworm trailing th em . ,O n the second loop , Kelly stretched his lead over MacCracken and 'Allen moved ahead ' of the now tired Malocco . In an effort to catch the lightweight leaders , Jeff Blix and the 125cc AI Baker Suzuki were doing some pretty spectacular things over the last downhi ll, but there was a lot of ground to be made up. While Kelly was out on his third and final loop of the 60·mile affair, he was faced with the problem of lapping slower riders. After the first two loops .. the ground had begun to dry out and dust appeared . 'Kelly was forced to p~t his new ' Malcolm Smith goggles through the acid test and cha rged into the dust for the first time tod ay. Kelly brought his KTM across the finish line to victory once again and did not appear tired. MacCracken followed and took a well-d eserved second overall, first' Amateur. Wayne Allen was in third with lightweight hots hoe Pr itchett fourth and Perkins taking second Amateur right behind him. Amateur Tim Nething was in next with his 250 Husky . H ib ba rd was just a head of Malocco, with ligh t we ig h t Ken ,U p p (175 Yam) scoring another small bike in the top 10. AI Wurtzel and his Cycle Products KTM rounded out the top 10 with a Juriior class win and second overa ll 250c<: . Mike Dyo tt was the Senior rider on the scent at 18th overa ll . ,· Junior 250cc Amateur winner Gary Short (250 Suz) edged out Gary Gibbons (250 Suz) by a co uple minutes despite handling problems . Ken Clayton (400 Yam) finally got his wish and beat Ed Wa ldheim (400 Yam) to the finish . Jack Fuller (250 Yam) took an impressive overall Novice victory over Jimmy Donaldson (250 Yam) an'dJerry Lowell (40) . Lowell , the early Novice leader , experienced problems and dropped way back but managed to pick up lost tim e . Do n nie Morrison (125 Yam) continued his winning ways in the smallbike class, overtaking early leader Joe Zuidenia (175 Yam) after Zuidenia had massive transmission problems. " I:.enny Hancock (400 Yam) tucked another J unior victory u nder his belt as he ~ continued to overpower his ' co mpetition . Iva n Summers (400 Yam) edged out John Nelson (<100 Yam) for the Senior class honors . , Jolene Payne (CPW KTM) found winning to her liking and continued to, capturing the ..Women's Division wit h L or i Waters (400 Yarn) and Helene Bernbowm (250 Suz) also taking class wins. .. • .. Overall Begin ners Jerry Donaldson (400 Yam) and Bob Schroeder (250 Suz) were the only two to go the full . three loops withou t being lapped . Kevin Fees (125 Yam) took third overall , Dave Tragger (80 Yam) was the Mini victor after Mark Heth (80 Yam) h ad difficulties. The course wa s excellent , with plenty of markings and good variety .
