T he remaining five laps became a battle between Clark and Rob er tson for the high stakes. It was C lark who won the d uel. Ch arging down in to the last lap, he co rnered Robertson in the m ud ruts and d ec id ed to t ake a shortcut by bounci ng across instead of taking the main' line through , giving him just the edge he needed to capture a final lap victory. The most' difficult obstacle of th .. course was the mammoth m udhole at the bottom of the last hill . This sweet little swamp swallowed a t least th ree bikes 'per race and ofte n .the casualty 1011 climbed as high as 10. Darrell Shu ltz, second moto winner of the O pen Pros, said it was his favorite part of the tra ck and went on to prove it by winning both motos of t he 250cc Pro race without getting sucked in even more . Of course he 's from Sacra ment o and , if it's possible, they've had even more rain than we have, so he 's used to the swamp scene.
