Tortorelli was again on top but Bud Rob inson plucked the prize away and went on for the win . Steve Fortune rounded ou t the field in th ird. Ammex rider Craig Dale went wire-, -to- wire fo r the win in t he Ope n Amateur/Expert TT. Ro y Porter didn't last long under th e attack of Eddie Drake , who reli eved h im of second before they had come around on lap two . After the first flurry, everyone settled down and fin ished in that order. Rob Selvy picked up a d ual win as he captured both the TT and half mi le 250cc classes. The TT was the eas y one as he went wire -to -wire on it. Jack Smi th held the second spot for two tliirds of t h e r a ce but Bob b y Ga rabedian got by him as the white flag ca me ou t. On the half mil e lad y luck smil ed on Selvy as Pet e Hames was sett ing a p ac e no one lo oked able to ca t ch but m echani cal p rob lems hit a nd Se lvy was there . Todd Br own had problems getting his fir e lit but once he di d , it didn't take him lon g to move from fifth to second and T erry Sin gleton went right a long with him to fin ish third . Proving himself to still be in excellent shape, he stole the show in both the 250cc and O pen Pro classes. In three of his races, Moorewood ran as uncontested leader from start to finish and usually got so b far out fr ont that th e number-two man couldn't have read the "T eam DG" '" letterin g on his jerse y with a pair of ~ lOx70 b inocula rs. However , in hi s fou rt h ra ce - th e second moto of th e .- 250 cc Pros , he rolled onto the cement starting block with wet wheels and couldn't get traction when the gat e fell . Rounding th e corner in sixt h place, Moorewood hauled cakes d own the straigh t and catching the group still bunched together blazed by David Cardoza and Mit ch Musgrave moving himself into fourth . A half a lap later he found a lin e by Don Glover taking third and began closing in on Mark Taylor who in turn also let him by . At the top of the third lap he was waving goodbye to former front runner R ick Cavish and heading out into the wid e open spaces. From then on in th e race was his . Moorewood rode a Suz uki in the Open Pro race and a Yama ha in ,- the 250 cc event. Running behind Moorewood at th e start of the first Open Pro race was Don Ba zem ore who held th e spot until he fell in th e fif th lap , lett ing Mike Lillev ig take over.
