The Garrett name is still in th e pot. Milan missed this race because of th e flu , but Duane did himself proud b y making his Montesa fly. Old Timer Juniors had a three-way battle among J ohn Semmler (Ya m) , J ohn Be rgg re n (Yam) and Don Sandretzky (Yam) and finished very tightly in just that order. Walt Dra ke took his Husky to a I-I and J ack Yamanaka too k his H ond a to a 2-2 to finish in that order for the day at Woodland Winter Track, Resu lts in Resu lts Section. T his park is owned by t he city of Tu lare a nd t hey deserv e a big hand for what they have done for off-road bike riders . The weather wasn 't t he greatest , but it d idn't stop th e best of a group of 200 'p lus rid ers . Do ing a whale of a job for th e 50cc Pee W ee Min i class, it was J ason Morrison (Suz) that got aced out by Brandon Reyes in the first moto , bu t places were reversed for Jason in th e overa ll posit ion . T hi rd ove ra ll was Gary Lambert (Suz) . MiniJuniors' first p lace wa s taken by Ku rt is W ild er (Yam) whil e seco nd and third went to . Robert Farm e r ( Ya m) and .Gregg Davis. Int erm ediate a n d Expert Mini classes were small . but the race was j ust as tigh t. Ma rk Nel son (Suz) took first pl a ce in the Expert divi sion . Shawn B al ahan (Yam ) took a first in the Intermediate class . Mike Wi lliams (Yam) took first in th e 100c c Junior Division I. Division II went to Ra ymi e Bla ir (Suz) . The 125cc Ju n ior class wa s separa ted into four divisions . T hese boys rea lly turned out and put on a good show . This is a big group . and th e top rid er s will soo n show their stuff so watch out. Open J u niors were a small group. b ut they d id their stuff. Over 200 riders competed Sunday on the all-na tural-te rrai n cou rse a t Kiona , which was prepared very well to yield a lot of good motocross racing. The 100cc class proved to be a three -wa y battle among Randy Mooney (Yam ), Scott Alderson (Ya m) and Kurt Roscoe (Ya m). ' Alderson followed Mooney for the ent ir e first moto, trying to make his pass but was never able to find enough room . Kurt Roscoe held down a com forta b le third in the first moto and then stormed out of the gate in the lead of the second. Mooney was in second and Alderson third as they both tried every Irick in the book to pass R oscoe . Scott eventua lly moved int o second by the finish , tieing all three rid ers on points and giving the win to R oscoe . Best riding of the day came from Moga n Da vid La Pierre, as he pat ched his Suzuki 's broken exhaust pipe toget her wit h d uck ta pe and came ' from behi nd to win bo th motos of th e 250cc Pro class . Andy Tud or (Ya m) holeshot t he fir st rnoto wit h Ro n Pomeroy (Ka w) close behind . Pome roy rook t he lead and appeared to stretch out a n u nbeatable lead , but Mogan slowly closed th e gap to win . The second moto was practica lly a repeat of the first , with Mike Czebator (Kaw) taking third over Tudor. Open and 125cc Pro s were run together because of the small amount of riders in each class. Bill J on es smoked th e entire field on his La P Su zuki with Art Key (Suz) ta king second. Jerry Bewlay (Suz) easily won the Open portion . Results in Results Secti on .
