Roeseler brought his factory-backed Husqvama
-390 in first to take the overall win in SCORE'
International's Mexicali 250 . Roeseler's win :. '

of Jeff Kaplan and Rick Finger, who
won the 250cc Class 21.
But Roeseler's win came at the
expense of Bob Balentine. who had
built u p a lead of about seven mi nutes.
on ly to seize twice in the last 75 miles.
Bot h times Balentine had to get a tow
from passing vehicles in order to
restart. He nursed the KTM into the
finish for second overall , second in
Class 22 behind Roeseler.
" Boy, I'm really sore!' said Roeseler
at th e finish . Larry , who 'd suffered
shoulder injuries in early February and
then gotten off in the rocks in a D-37
event (he weekend before this race,
still had a consistent race and ~o ge t
offs. Roeseler averaged approximately
54 mph for the event.
Class 20. for 125cc b ikes, was again
won by a team of brothers. Bu t this
time it was the Pfeiffer brothers. Scott
and Kent . on their Mission Viejo
Yamaha YZ. Their win was a matter
of high drama when Scott ran out' of
gas five mi les before his fina l pit at
Kilometer 27. less than 40 m iles fro m
the finish . As Scott was running ~ith
the motorcycle, a rider pitt ing with
them reported to the pit that Pfeiffer
was out of gas . A pit crew member
drove cross country, gassed him and
then Scott handed the bike to Kent1at
Kilometer 27. who brought it in to win
by 22 seconds over the George Erll
Tom Grant Husqvama.
