The ba ck -to -back sched u le didn 't both er Nati ona l #14 Ri ck Burgett , as he aced ou t th e O pen Pr o class for Ya maha , T he Srn ilin ' Lumberj ack j umped rig ht in th e first moto witho u t pr act ice and worked his way fro m fourth to wifl. Series lead er Tom Poage was cookin' in second but got in a tangle midway th rough the moto and dropped to l l th . Clint Cal hou n (Suz) finished second for th e moto a nd - Ba rn ey . New man (H us) from . Oregon 'ca rne in third . W hen they ro u nded the opener for the seco nd time , Poage was out in front with Calhoun . then Burgett hot on his trail.
