The race became a battle between Cloud and Campbell and as th e first mota en ded . Cloud took the win . In the second moto Campbell again got th e holeshot , lea ving Cloud in hot pursuit. Campbell held onto the lea d for the first couple of laps but Cloud made his move in the back section of the track to finish with back to back wins for first over all. The I25cc Intermediate/Expert class was fast and furious. It was Bria n jordan off the line first wit h Cu rt is R ou g h (Yam) . Bryon Antona cci (Ya m ) and " Sto rm in ' " Norman N ilsson close behi nd . Antonacci made his move on Rough and began di cin g it ou t with Jordan (Ya m ). As the final lap came to a close . it was J ordan picking up the win in th e Expert class and Bryon Antona cci taking the overall win in the Int ermed ia te class . Resul ts in Results Section. FEB . 25 Kris Phillip . on a Maico , riding on sheer guts and determination. racked up back-to-back wins for the overall win in the 250cc J u nio r ra ce at M ounta in H igh International Saturday. . At the start of the first mota . several riders went d own on th e infa mous first turn as Phillip escorted th e pa ck alon g muddy stretches and ac ross a creek . T om Gin was right behind him with No rman N euman running third . All three for erunners were in a tight holding pattern until N euman wip ed ou t on a tire . wrapping himself a nd his bike in ya rd s of yellow banners. Mik e Mit ch ell and Sandy Tumen were hav in g the ir own p rivate ba tt le for fou rt h . T umen ra n into trou ble at the bottom of one of the d ownhill tu rns . Almost wiping out . his bik e pran ced away with hi m . cutting do nu ts all ove r th e track . Tum e n finall y gained control over his errant Maico and rejoined the race . He wor ked his wa y back up to fifth by. th e end of the mota. Coming in for the white fla g . Phillip was running second and fight ing to take back his lea d from Eric Gifford . Making his move at the right time. he rega ined co nt ro l for the ch ecke red flag. When the rubber band snapped th e second time. j im Gardner jumped into the lead with Phillip right on his tail. With Jim Master in third. a heav y duel was fought for the lead. Wi th Ph illip breathing down his jersey. Ga rdner wa s und er heavy pressure and finall y dumped it in th e mud . Phi llip took over the lea d as Stanley O liviera moved int o third . Phill ip ope ned up a strong lead and held it down to th e final checkered flag. john Foster moved on by Oli viera to tak e over second and Olivi er a held firm in third . Scott Dahlberg . d own fro m Sa n J ose on a Suzuki . scooped up a pair of b a ck -t o- b a ck wi ns in the I 25cc j u nio rs. Division I. O lmsted . held ba ck by lapped rid ers was burning up the track to ca tch Dahlberg. When the m ota finall y ended . Dahlberg won . Olmsted was holding seco nd and McGinns cont roll ed th ir d . When th e seco n d m ot a sta rted . McGinns was ou t in front wi th Olmsted in second and Kro eh e r running thi rd . Dahlberg was cha rgi ng! Finally m aking his move . Dahlberg too k over th e lead and held it down to the fini sh lin e . McGinns hel d ont o seco n d a nd Kroehe r wa s ru nni ng th ird .
