Close to 100 of the top state and National Pros
met on Mountain High International in the
Sierras for American Motocross Enterprises'
$3 ,000 purse race. What they found was a
track rough an~ tough enough
for any rnountam man . Several
creeks honeycombed the trac k,
creating a challenging straight

right after the first turn . laced with
m ud -covered whoop-de-docs . affection ately dubbed "Swamp Alley ." The

with a consistent 2-2 ride a nd Terry
Clark , on a Mai co , domin a ted th e

At the start of the 250c c Pro's first
moto, Rob ertso n . stradd ling a CanAm , and Rand y Losh on a Maico,
took on the first turn and m ade their
way through "Swa mp Alley" as t he
pack behind them pic ked th eir wa y u p
out of the m ud . Still side by sid e, th ey
made the ir tu rn u phill and Rob ert son
too k over. selli ng up the lead that he
was to hold througho u t th e 40 -m inute
moto. Mike Wi ckersham and Darrell
Shu ltz. both Mai co -mounted , dueled
hard for third. Another battle for fif th
