At th e completion of t he second la p there were no drastic changes but Miller did move past Force . On th e third lap Ba lent ine stoppe d to check on Kelly's condition. After a .couple of brief minutes Bob set sail for his fourth and final go around . Miller dropped ou t on the third loop with Brian Ben nett (400 KT M) and Mike Johnston (250 KTM) moving up and into the scene. . When the checkered flag dropped . it was Bal entine with qu ite a lea d a nd a strong fin ish . T his m ak es it three out of the last three for Bob . ., A few minutes later Malocco tI' v..tl'••••••••••••••••••••••tl',•• JI maneu vered h is Fa irwa y Yamaha down the la st hill to receive th e checkered flag as did Allen . Finish ing fourth was Bennett with Johnston rig ht behind him on a borrowed b ike. Foster finished fir st sm a ll b ike a nd six th overall , while Force sucked up first Amateur. Doug Beisner 's Val er ia n Cycl e Suzuki kept h im goin g for a nother on e of his consistent finishes. Rid ing his first race as a Junior / Senior , Monte Lee never missed a bea t as his Baker-Krause Yamaha picked u p the class win a nd n inth overall . Rou nd ing ou t the top 10 was Mike Mulcon ery (400 KTM ). Bob Rundquist (175 Yam) was the Lightwei ght Am a teur victor despite stretch ed spokes and a flat tire . Amateur Ed Waldheim and his brand new 400 IT proved to be th e winning combination in t he Ope n Ju nior /Sen ior cla ss. In th e 250cc Novice a nd Begi n ner race J eff H eth led the fir st la p with Sod buste r Br e tt Cush in g (H us ) supp lying p lent y of press ure . b ut bo th riders failed to come a ro und on lap two . This moved J eff Ca nnon (H us) and La rry Sp aeth (Ya m) with th e first two positions with Beg in n e r Bob Schroeder (Suz) running third. At the finish on the completion of the third loop . Cannon and Sp ae th were uncontested for first and second with G ra nt Cobert and h is Montclair Ya maha moving in for th ird . Sch roede r was fi rs t Begin n er wi th Brian Diu lio eighth overa ll and second in class . Open Novices and Begi n ners were led from st a rt to fini sh by Mike Co p p e llo ( Ya m) with R on Ne lso n (Yam ) d oing the same fo r second. Gr eg Holman kept it all together for the Beginner win . Cycle Pr oduc ts W est rid er Chris Cord led the first lap of th e Novice a nd Beginner Jun ior/ Senior class race but could not hold off th e hard charge of Brad T erp ak (400 Yam) who took the lead on the second lap and held it for the duration. Richa rd Brownell (400 Yam) was third. Larry Robidoux (g70 Suz) took first Begin ner in this event. Lome Cra wford ( 175 Yam) led the charge off the lin e but got off hard . After regaining his scruples he conti nue d on to, finish sixt h. In the Mini class, Ma rk Heth (80 Yam) had a huge lead over fellow competitors Ga ry Curtis (Suz) a nd Bill Ma ttox (Yam) for th e class win . Resul ts in Resul ts Secti on . • 19
