the 250cc Pr o battle. Four mot a wins
and a defeat of Mother Nature was t he
key to victory for th e Rocket. In
contrast . 125cc Pro winner Danny
Turner d idn't win a mota all day.
Going into round six , Staten had a
35 point lea d in th e 500cc class and a
23 point spread in the 250cc. T erry
Clark was th e only one who cou ld stop
Staten in the 500cc class and Donnie
Hansen or Darrell Shultz wer e th e on ly
defenders who cou ld keep the 250cc
tit le al ive.

the first mota was Da rr ell Shultz.

m inutes these two went head to head,
with no more than lapped traffic
sepa ra ting th em . Terry Clark was
movin g his Col e Bros . Maico up in th e
standings and soon reached the fourt h
slot aft er going around Parry Klassen .
Cla rk began to put pressure on
R ich ter . but it was. to no avail as
Richter put his Moto -X Fox Suzuki in
th e d irecti on of Sh ultz .
When the tim e closed on the mota
Staten was wa y out in front with a full
minute lead over Shultz. Richt e r .
Clark and Klassen follo wed a cross the
line. .
He a vy rains made t he second mota a
total m ud -o-cross and the time was cut
to 30 m in utes. Staten pulled th e
holeshot a nd slid int o the lead on th e
first tu rn . The on ly chall enge in th e
race ca me fro m Pa t Richter, in t he
