Larry Wosink tried out Cross Country for th e first tim e and would have been a winner, but for one costly mistake in gass ing up . He didn't turn off, the engi ne, a disqualification offense. Bruce Bo wm an beat out J erry Jackso n for th e 250cc J u n ior/ Expert combined with L~rry's . dad , Pete Wos ink , winning the Novice over Jim Hubbard. Scott Austin's dad Bill took the O.T. class easily while John Silva managed the Vets class. For those who d ecided that it was too wet to run down to Hollister, think again. MXers Loose on the Streets Suzuki -mounted Pa t Jacobson did his thing again with a clean sweep of the 125cc Pro action and a.win in one 250cc Pro moto. The go -fast l25cc class was rounded ou t with Bill Jones ,- Ron Dimeo from Oregon , and Gary Racca for Northwest Yamaha. Bu rien Su zuk i's Bill J oyce took over midway in th e 250 cc Pro moto two when J acobson's motor went sou r. CH Suzuki rider Duane Marker put it all together for a solid second overall. Ron Pomeroy clicked awa y on on e of those beautiful new CR 250R Hondas for third overa ll. Olympic Yamaha's Tom Poage go t his reward today for some hard work as he aced out two doz en Open Pros. Ron Dimeo led the way for four laps in moto one while Poage got go ing. Poage got by Don Carpenter , Randy Schweizer and then showed them past th e ch eckers. Blaine Elledge moved on out for a second overall , . Carpenter was third and Duane Marker, out in his third Pro class, claimed fourth. One way to keep the Sierra Club on ·its toes is to make sure our supply ·of motorcycle riders is endless. That's what we're doing in Washington with minicycle fever. It 's catching on at Puyallup with two new classes this yea r: Pee Wee and Mini Intermed iate . It usually takes 4-5 races to let all th e Minis run. Results in Results Section. .. 33
