\,\ , \ ~I . f] Street is Neat -c :x: ~ The street riding season is cIoming ~ back, and a lot of good places to S, go and things to see are popping up . For avid street and to uring riders there are a multitude of events to attend. Every weekend in every state there are poker runs and just plain gettogethers. They're what makes being a biker so much fun. Whenever b ikers get together, they always discu ss some of th e big event s of th e yea r . So , I figu red thi s would be a good tim e to let you a ll in on th e happenings for th is coming yea r, as fa r as th e touring and stree t riders are co ncern ed. The first big event of th e yea r is Da ytona . This ride is in co nj u nction with the roundy-round races that the AMA holds, bu t th e ra ces are just a sm a ll part of Mot orcycle Week in Daytona Bea ch , Florida. There you will find over 120,000 bikers getting together to party on March 7-I I I For those of you who are putting around the West Coast and looking for a good place to putt to , why not try Yuma , Arizona come , April 22 -23 . There you'lI find about 8,000 bikers getting together on a run sponsored by the Norwalk Centaurs. It's usually a good fun run with lots of camping. The following weekend you will find li lot of the real touring folks headi ng toward Colorado for the Colorado Motorcycle Festival. T his is a relatively new event , but it is gaining in stature all the time. In May , th e good folks of the Southern California Mot orcycle Asso- . ciation get together and put on the United States .Motorcycle Jamboree in Bakersfield. On Ma y 27 -29 , over 10,000 bikers are expected to take-part in that family-oriented event. It 's held at the Bakersfield Fairgrounds and is a must for all California b ikers to attend . • On June 17 -19 there's choice between Loudon ( L a co n ia), New Hampshire and Be ech Bend , Kentucky. The racers and tourers like to make it to Laconia , while the choppers and others go to Beech Bend to watch the drag races . Take your pick; they're both good. Sturgis, South Dakota is the place to go in August. A whole week , starting August 7, will find over 12,000 bikers there to party and have a good time . The Black Hills Classic is held in conj unction with a lot of dirt races. • If those events don't get you, then the Three Flags Classic on the West Coast is always fun, and if not th a t, ,then the Aspencade Rally in New Mexico or the Dea th Va lley ru n m igh t be for you. ~ T o get it a ll together, there is plenty to do on your street bike.
