Jua n ita Bla nton , Collec tion a nd C redi t Golden State gratitude Co ngratulations to the Continental Moto-sports Clu b for lining u p a truly fine series for t he west coast MXersl I've believed all a long that California would be a better place for a Winter Series than Florida, even after riding the Florida series once myself. Purses of $g,OOOand seven great tracks will make the Golden State Series the place to be this winter . But CMC is making one big mistake by trying to run a three .Pro class program and Sportsman racmg 011 the same day. After riding the '76 Golden State Series race at Saddleback, with two short qualifiers and one moto for the overall, I am thoroughly convinced that this can't be done. CMC should copy Florida and have a Sportsman series on Saturday and the Pro series on Sunday. That way we all get our money's worth of racing . And how about paying per moto instead of just overall? I think riders will agree it 's the fairest way to distribute the money. It usually sends more riders home with money in their pockets. And with racing costs as th ey are today. every little bit helps! All you So Ca l riders be sure to. rid e the Mountain High and Dunlap Golden State races and see som e real motocross tracks, only five hou rs from freeway MX . They're guaranteed to be two of the best tracks in th e series with , real hills 'a nd tra ction! See ya th er el PARRY KLASSEN Fresno, CA Circulation Rbeba Smi th. Man agn- . Diane Fe-ton. "T h a nks a million" and " Good -bye" to the many desert racers that have patronized our photo business and become our friends . Its been nine fun yea rs since Color Action Photos started up . and it was quite benificial in supporting my racing career and it helped put me through college. And when no jobs awaited me upon graduation. it he.lpe? us make. it 'til now , when the evasive Job made Its appearance. The California Dep a rt m ent of Parks and Recreation found it in their hearts to hire me . I'll be working weekends. Thai's fine , bu t it makes weekend race p hotography im possible. I'm leavi ng the business in the hands of another long time desert rat, Joyce May . She will have any D·g7 photos you have yet to pick up or order, and she started shoting D·g7 desert events in December . DRA (CRC) photos will be sent to those riders for whom we have addresses , and they'll also be afforded the opportunity to order any last shots we may have. DRA riders with numbers above 500 should contact us at the address below. I ask all of you to support Joyce in this difficult transition so that Color Action Photos can be perpetuated. Joyce has been in the desert as long as I have. She's an excep tiona l desert correspondent , and I'll be teaching her all the tricks of m y trade. DI PRETE AMA Professional Motocross Manager Westerville, OH Reminder from the clean air people ' Federal regu lations issued on Wednesday , J a nua ry 5,1977, require that any motorcycle produced after December gl , 1977 be covered by a certificate of conformity. Issuance of these certificates of conformity is the responsibi lit y of the U. S . Environmental Protection Agency, Office of Mobile Source Air Pollution Control. To be certain that all manufacturers are aware of the requirements im pose d on them by the regulations, we have attempted to contact them through MIC or individual correspondence. While we believe we have b een largel y successful, there may still be some manufacturers who are not aware of the certification requirements . It wou ld be extre mely unfortunate if it were to become necessary to d ela y or prevent a mot orcycle manufacturer from marketing his product because he was unaware of th e req uire me n ts whi ch must be m et.
