Some nerd didn't know I was just kidding by calling all dirt bikers stupid. and he copped a real attitude. That goes to show they aren't as 'stu pid at I thought. Hell. he read the article didn't he ? That in itself shows he 's not as stupid as I thought. I didn't think dirt clods could read . . Since I am th e ed itor of the good publication. Biker, I have a lot more fun then the poor slobs who run Cycle News . I guess it's starting to get to them because now they say they want to get me out on th eir turf, which means on a d irt bike. Now I have a lway s h eld the conviction that Street is Neat , and you get hurt in the d irt, so I am very hesitant , but I hav e agreed to a two part race. I am going to race either of the editors of Cycl e N ews on their choice of bikes, I am going to ride m y full race. chopped Hawg. The first leg of the race will be on their turf, out there where you get hurt , and the second part will be on my turf, on th e open road. This is an open challenge. From Los Angeles to Las Vegas. Any roads that they want to take, in cl ud ing dirt ones. Now let's see what kind of snivelers dirt bikers are. OK, now for the street news for all you smart bikers out there . Honda is introducing a GOO ·pound, 103 horsepower (at the crank) inline six- cylinder motorcycle. and it is not meant to replace the Goldwing. It is being billed as a Sport bike. It is supposed to do a registered 140 mph, and the engine is only 24 inches wide, with the points and alternator gear driven and out of the way behind the c~linders. Sounds like it will be a winner. I guess th at the big H ( n o t Husqvarna , Honda) is trying to keep up with the superbike race. Hell with Yamaha's 1100 cc sha fty , and Suzuki's new IOOOcc bike , the roads are getting short er and shorter. Now if we could beat thi s stu pid 55 mile an hour law , we would be able to use all that power. Well, that's a little glimpse into the world of the street biker.
