Minicross presented a 100% Trophy night on die mini track at Indian Dunes. 18 Jason Wagner won both motos of the 83cc Stock Junior 9ยท Ll -year-olds. As the gate dropped in the first moto , Wagner was off and running with Richie James on his , tail. The two riders pulled away from the pack leaving James Cardines in control of ' third . The action was high in the fourth spot as David Denny tried , hopelessly. to take it away from Buddy Duma (Pesky's) , The second time -W agner shot in front . Denny was next with Duma and James , behind . Jam es moved into second when he took Duma on the downhill and then passed Denny in the corkscrew . Den n y, Dumo and Cardines scrambled through the turns. with Duma finishing third and Denny, fourth. ' Todd Bess (Omo & Sons) took wins in both the Stock and Modified Junior Cycle Intermediates . Raymond Swearinger holeshotted in the first mota . but Bess was quick to move into the lead. Swearinger had bike trouble and was forced to DNF . Carl Tignino kept the heat on Bess. as Bess swept both motos. In a large class of Junior Cycle Juniors. John Mathews took top honors with a I -I ride. Ricky Duma and Jon Benskin finished in the second and third spots in mota one. Things changed the second time out. Dumo decided to take a nap and didn't make the gate. William Schilling tore after Mathews to finish second. with Marty Rickard in third. Pesky's' David Seekins swapped mota wins with Larry Brooks in the 83c c Stock Intermediate class. In the first mota . Seekins went down when the riders bottled up in the first hairpin . Brooks held the lea d . while Mike Bess and Mark Chikasawa fought for second. Chikasawa followed Brooks through the flag . Seekins finished sixth. The second time. Seekins rocketed out of -the gate and never looked bac . Brooks kept Mark Chikasawa behind him and finished second for the overall win . Results in Results Section. Wickoff's win and uMama Madness" at AME Minicross .By Judy Greenberg . . .' VALENCIA. CA , NOV . 13 Shawn'Wickoffs 1-3-2 ride gave him the first overall in the Junior Cycle Sto ck Junior class at A.M .E.'s Minicross race at Indian Dunes. Wickoff grabbed the holeshot in moto one , with Ricky Dumo breathing down his neck . While Warren Provost (Su z. of Ventura ) battled with William Schill ing for third. Chuck Simmons moved by on the outside. Duma. Simmons and Wickoff came out of the tower tum together. and rode sid e b y side over the jumps. Wickoff pulled into the lead when Duma and Simmons bumped into each other. Duma finished second , and Schilling took , third . The second time , Simmons , Schilling and W ickoff were the first three riders to finish . Du ma led from start to finish in the last mota . Wickoff got by Simmons for second , and Provost moved into fourth when Schilling had trouble. . Gary Szilagyi (Pesky's) had quite a weekend . With three class firsts Friday night , Szilagyi repeated his performance Sunday in the Junior Cycle Experts. and Stock and Modified 83cc 9-1I Juniors. Andy Ellis and Jason Wagner ran a strong second and third to finish the first moto, Frank Da;r took fourth, after swapping the spot with Gilbert Valdez. The second time , Wagner and Ellis were in a melee for second. Ellis swept by . and then put the pressure on Szilagyi, but had to settle for second. Raymond 5wearinger held on to fourth. while Darr fought his way by Buddy Dumo . Dumo and Valdez crashed in the whoop -de-docs and were out of the running. ' In the final moto Ellis followed Szilagyi off the line. and then went down . Valdez ad second by a slim margin until Darr and Wagner closed in. As they mixed it up for several laps, Ellis was working his way back up . When he reached Darr, in second, it was a fight to the wire in Darr's favor. A special one rnoto 83cc " Min i Mama Open" was held after the last event. Brynda Stiles charged into the lead with Sue Seekins right behind. Francis Dumo, Sue Swearinger and Judy Greenberg brought up the rear. while Norma Thompson took off in After the dust settled at AME's minicross, t he mothers had their own race. the wrong d irection . She soon found her pack and flew by Greenberg and Swearinger (who gave her no problem because they never got out of second' gear) . Once by Mama Durno, she had to settle for third. The front running Mamas, Stiles and Seekins were holding steady as they started lapping riders. The tail ending "second gear" Moms swapped fifth over the jumps and in the turns, until Greenberg slid out before the white flag. leaving Swearinger an easy fifth . Mamas Stiles, Seekins and Thompson were the' day's winners . Results in Results Section. Denton wins AME $J.,OOO J.25 Pro MX By lee Taylor VALENCIA. CA , NOV, 13 Gary Dem on (SUI-SUI. of Po mona) blew everyone away with a triple victory in the 125cc Pro $1,000 purse race. Rid ing a bi ke loaned to him by his brother Guy, Denton beat out over 60 riders . After coming off the track , Denton's bike was im med ia tely protested and torn down . Found t o be clean and ' completely legal , the man protesting the machine just shook his head and kept asking "But how could he be so fast? " In the first qualifier, Den ton took the holeshot with Mark Lawrence in second and Bob Kline running thi rd. Dent on opened up a beautiful lead with Kline pulling far away from tbe fourth place rider. Lawrence held firm in second. Their positions held . At the start of the second qualifier, Kirk Sturgeon pulled the holeshot and held firm until going down in tlie sandwash. David Taylor took over and held the lead throughout the rest of the race. Sturgeon came back for tlie consolation heat in the lead once mo e but lost his position to Doug Nic I coming through the sandwash; his knee giving him trouble . Willy Simo~s was now in second and a heavy duel for first took place. Simons took the lead and both Nicol and Simons held strong leads over the rest of the pack through the rest of the heat. Coming back for the first mota of the main , Denton once more took control with Taylor running second , Jeff Ward (FMF) in t hird , Gregg Toyama (Suz-FMF) ho ldi ng fourth and John O'Mara in fift h . Toyama was moving up fas t on Ward and Tay. r kept a steady eye on Denton. Moving up steadily, Mark Lawrence was nmY" D thi rd and closing fast on Taylb When the checkered flag came gut Denton held the lead , Taylor was solid in second with Lawrence in third. - ~ When they met on the line for the final race . Denton took control s~o~t)y after the start. Coming up on , tke outside . Toyama took over second with Lawrence running third.
