As it turned out Ga ry absolu tely could not get by and Taylor land ed the first win of the evening over Denton and Mark " Ma d m a n" La~ren ce of Crown Cycle. . Action was quite unpredictable in ,the second moto. Taylor, quite a specialist at getting the holeshot, did it to them again. Denton was hot in pursuit this time but he fell on a sim ple .berm, There were then two . Race Factory of Norwalk aces hanging in second and third Mike Johns and Vince Van HooK. However, both of them ended up colliding with one another on the same corner that Denton went down and consequently Mark Lawrence and Craig Dale of Motorcycle Repair overtook t he positions. , The third and final moto of the 125 Pro class was won by Taylor. Denton didn't even make this final bout and just committed himself to the 250 Pro contest in which he was also engaged in. Lawrence was full throttle behind the first place rider while Vince Van Hook (Yam) was heading off the whole herd of riders. The overall runnerup was Mark Lawrence who edged out Vince Van Hook, Craig Dale, Randy Hess (FMF) , Terry Shekell , Scot Clifton (T&M) . R.J . Gray , Terr y Clanton (Race Factory) , . Cliff Lett (FMF), Denton, David Pessy, Mike Johns and Scott Williams. Results in Results Section. Cooky Bajczy leads AME Pee Wee brigade By Judy Greenberg VALENCIA , CA. OCT. 23 Britt Edwards led the troops to win the first moto of the 83cc Stock Beginner class during A.M .E. Youth Division mini motocross at Indian Dunes. John Simmons and Carey Klatt had a tight race for second, with Klatt escaping to hold a few feet spread be tween them . Joe Felix and Mark Serraro see-sawed for fourth , with ' Felix bringing his Honda in for the flag . In the second moto, Dave Van Dyke took the early lead. It took Simmons three laps to close in , but once he was there, used his strategy to move in front for the mo to win . Klatt held a smooth third, followed by Edwards. Felix had a late start, and then stalled with bike trouble , setting him back further in the pack. The third time , Klatt shot in front. Serraro and Edwards collided in the first hairpin and were left in the dust by the last riders . Simmons was a ble to overtake Klatt for the overall win , with second and third going to Klatt and Edwards . yon facil ities this November 5th and 6th. This highly regarded mo torcycle event ever will have a western theme to its name as it is called Pioneer T own Classic . Now in its 19th year of action the club has moved to the Racing Wo rld park and looking forward to the best r ace ever. The new 390 ·acre rnotorsports park is capable of handling a major spectator spectacular such as this event. Included into the park's scheme of things are fine spectator facil ities, o ve rn ig h t camping, recreational rentals . amusements , fishing and the new Pioneer Town which is a new attraction. The Pion eer town will certainly give the even t a W estern ac cent and th e Ra cing World people have been worki ng di ligen tly on it during the past month. They ha ve been using flat -bed trucks to move in th is real Western town piece-by-piece from its Belmont Park location in San Diego. Pla ns for the old -style town sho ul d be com plete d by th e race date and un iq ue co ncessio n sales will b e operated out of it. A saloon may be used an d they will sell beverages, including Coors beer which will make it reali stic . The Coors logo will be pa in ted on the side of a huge wat~r tank by the tr ack and this is the drink that most of the Dirt Diggers will con sume a ll weeke nd long. The world's largest recycle basket . will be made ou t of chai n link fence. All aluminum cans will be deposited in th is basket and proceed s will be sent to a major charity. Can you im agine all of th e Coors beer cans that th ere are going to be? (Burp . . . Ed) The mass of ride rs will ride a challenging natural terra in track which covers over three miles. Riders will travel through some woodsy area at the back of th e park and will soar downhill towards th e sta rt again as they pass by the BMX track area. From there the y will wind back around a path by a small lake. The course will lead them through the Pioneer Town and a traditional water crossing. Racing classes will include 100cc bikes straight to 500 cla ss m achines. Novices, juniors. experts, wom en . oldtimers and side hack divisions will be scheduled to run. T he events will include 120 riders 'per class and they will ramble for 10 grueling laps over the natural terrain layout. Sunday will be the day of major events and the speci al Coo rs $5000 Pro race is going to be th e on e to watch. There will also b e a Pioneers o f Motorc ycl ing Exh ibit ion race .
