Trapped in an .in credibly temperamental
weather pattern, participants in the Buchanan
Jaycees' Red Bud T 'N'T Trans-AMA round
survived snow in practice , alternate bouts with
rain/sleet / hail during the motos

Yamaha , . progressed steadily from a
seventh place start (at the end of the
opening lapjto take the moto one lead
in the final 10 minutes when Team
Honda's j im Pomeroy stalled his motor
in one of the greasy turns . Round two
saw Han n ah sq ueeze past Tommy
Croft of the formidable Honda squad
on th e first ha lf lap , qu ickly extend his
lead to over 20 seconds. and h ustle to
a virtually uncha llenged win .
Pomeroy led the Hond a contingent .
who filled places two through five at
the di fficu lt day's end, with a solid 2-2
ta lly. T ommy Croft p ut in an equally
consistent 4-4 third place ride while
Marty Smith registered a 6-3 fourth
and Brad Lackey made his a 3-9 fifth .
Mart y Tripes' . Har ley -Davidson
found a home in sixth place, just
ahead of Trans-AMA Series points
leader Roger DeCoster.
