Lodi Motorcycle Club at this
benefit race for 12·year·old Marvin
Lewis, a 100cc Mini Expert who has
recovered" enough from a burst
appendix to be present at the races.
Marvin's plans include a return to
racing next summer after his nearfatal illness. His cheeriness today was a
welcome sight at trophy presentations
and the riders who came were glad
they did .
Trophies were donated in such
numbers that all 126 racers received
one, and the racing for points was
good on a rather slick and .dry track .
The snappy t hough late starring
program allowed for many laps in
each class . The race also marked the
return of starter Gerry Carr, ou t since
June with a broken leg after battling
with a 250 Can- Am at the starting
line.

Eighty-cc Novice Br ian Davis
doesn't ride often but showed no
rus tiness as he won bo t h his heat and
main. A llen Knight, ano ther
jrregular, was second. Dennis House r
finally beat Char les Pettit in the 80
junior main as these two . have been
battling tooth and nail in valley races .
Bill Arbogast bagged the 80 Expert
heat and main with a fine win over
Mark Key and Doug Chandler. Bill's
first and Doug's 100 main win
regained points, and strengthened
their first and third spots on next
year's plate list. Key's second moved
him ahead of Chris Carr for the
number five spot.
Big bike action saw current #1
Dennis Spence move closer to a repeat
as he picked off two seconds. Kim
Jorgensen won the 250 main while
Dallas Davis took the 500 . Spence has
one more week to pass injured Jeff
Haney , who plans to r.eturn at
Oakdale's first rough scrambles
October 16th.
_ Lodi will begin its rough season with
a twilight rough scrambles on
Saturday, October 29th. The program
will open with a 12 noon signup time.
