McAllen MX starts fall season By Nick Castillo McALLEN , TX, SEPT. 25 The McAllen Motorcycle Club st arted off their fa ll season with a bang, ho sting a GNC qualifier originally scheduled for the Lakeside trac k. The ven ue was changed d ue to wet wea ther. T he qualifiers will set the line- up for the Grand National . Championship to be held Ma rch 19, 197 8. in th e Houston Astrodome. Stacey Smith went wire to wire in front of both motos in the m in i class . Jackie Horner (SUl) was second in front of Joe Leal. Leal was protested ' because he was over 12, so the McAll en M.C . refunded his entry money and withheld his trophy. Montana championshipMX: McMullen, Holmes, Harding win .
