Most of the sections featured rocks and boulders that required good throttle control and balance to stay in competition. Section one was a 10-foot drop with a sharp right turn at the bottom , then a sharp left up a bank and down again with a "nail it to the wall " exit. Ron Doster took a spectacular flying leap off the bank that looked beautiful and cost him five points all at the same time! Section two was an eye- popper for the spectator. Novices had to drop down a 20·foot bank with a slippery 'gh t turn and a narrow gully for an exit . In contrast, amateurs and experts were made to go up the right side of that same 20·foot ba nk, tu rn left on an off-camber, then drop b ack down a 20·foot cliff that one had to see to appreciate! Spectators shook their heads in disbelief. Section nine was just plain tough for all classes! Beginners were hard pressed even to clean it with its cantankerous sharp left turn between -two boulders. followed by a sharp right up and over a rock! , 1st 2nd 8-21 ...
