Honors for Hansen at CRe $1.,000 MX By Rox An n Dougherty VALENCIA , CA , OC T . 2 California Racing Club (CRC) ran their $1000 purse at Indian Dunes on the extended Shadow Glen course. The largest class of th e d ay was th e 250 Pro class with 33 riders . The winner was Do nnie H ansen (In rl. M IC a n d Shoemaker Cycl e Service) with a 1-1 fin ish and the bucks. During both mores , Hansen was able 10 hold off Ron Turner who took home fourth place money for the day . Gary Denton received second and John Atwood held down third . T he fifth place position was taken home by JeffVidic. Another good race was the 125 Pro class . Gary Scheidler pulled the first moto holeshot only to be swooped by R on Turner (FMF). Bobby Kline (FMF) and Evan Marcus (G ra n ad a Yamaha). Turner was beginning to pull away until Kline dialed himself in and went after Turner. Mark " Madman " Lawrence decided to live up to his name and went for the gusto . L aw ren ce finis he d firs t with Kl in e sec on d and T u rner third . Hanse n brought in a fourth and Evan Ma rcu s rounded out the top five. The second m ota sa w Radical Ron T urner ju mping into the lead with Lawren ce jum ping in right beh ind him . But Turner won this moto by usi ng his head instead of his style. Bobby Klin e was riding his heart out trying to catch T u rner and Lawren ce b u t was u n ab le to do so . When everything was over Lawrence was the overa ll win ner. Turner rode a well deserved second. Bob by Kline was in for a third . Ma rcus fourth and Don n ie Hanse n fift h . Boyer blisters AMC Carlsbad MX By Chuck Burris CARLSBA D, CA, OC T . 2 Suzuki rider Wayne Boyer took over at Carlsbad by winning the 250 and the Open Pro classes , easil y winning all motos. Kurt Sofka (C·A) got th e holeshot in th e first mota of the 250 Pros and stret ched out a small lead on Boyer and Muff Montaque (Su z) . Bo yer reeled in Sofka and took off, lea ving th e pack behind. Doug Boyd worked up to second after dicing with Sofka , and Gary Pustelax followed for third. It stayed the same for the finish ; Boyer , Boyd and Pustelax. In the second moto Boyd got the holeshot but Luc DeLey (Suz) took th e -----------~ lead. Boyer , by th e end of th e first lap , ha d the lead wit h Boyd again second. Boyer left everyone behind . Boyd's luck ra n out , and a fla t rear tire let Pustelax into second. He too dropped out and Sofk a too k over the second spo~ with Muff j ust a few feet behind . Boyer went on to the win and Sofk a held off Muff, taking second and seco nd overall with Mu ff third . In the Open Pros Boyer a g ai n collected both wins . Pu stela x finished se~ ond in both motos for second overa ll. Bria n Craze got a p a ir of threes for th ird overall . In the 125 Pros, Scott Anderson go t the holeshot in the first moto , but a stuck front b rake sent hi m d own . Corki Moore went on for the win wit h teammate Don Fu ller th ird . In the second m ot a Anderson aga in smoked the holesho t but Fuller took over with Anderson and Moore right behind . Anders on went down on th e d ownhill and was taken to t he hospital , wh ile teammate Fuller held off th e cha rgi ng Moo re . Moore finally got by and went on to win with Fuller second. Terry Shekell won the 125 Pro class with DG rider John Tessitore second and Tony Gomez third . Aaron Bassett took the 250 Pros and David Gerig the O pen Pro division. Racing for this evening saw the combination of all the pro d ivisions.
