Ron Turner on a FMF-tuned Suzuki won both- motos with sizeable leads over International ~.C . . Shoemaker Cycle Service rid er Donnie Hansen. Hansen took two seconds and DG rider Steve Bauer placed third in both motos. Mike Pillar (Suz) was fourth overall. ' Changing engines in between m otos. One bike, two engines get Breker a,first and third at CRC $1.,000 MX By John Rocha TRABUCOCYN. • CA, SEPT. 25 It took a lot of work for Goat Breker , now riding for U.S. NorStar to win the O pen Pro class and place third in the 250 class at CRe's $1000 purse Racing World motocross. Breker had only one bike - a Husky - , but brought two engines which he switched in between motos. The Open Pros started off the day with Corey Bogane (Mai) getting the holeshot. 'Bre ker was second but got by on the first lap. Another Husky rider. Mark White fro m Simi Valley Yamaha was third on the first lap . Yamaha rider Rick Blackwell. had a mid-pack start but was moved up steadily into fifth behind Jeff Vidic (Yam) . White passed Bogane near the end and Blackwell flew past Vidic over a jump. . Breker and White took first and second , ' B og a n e was third and Blackwell tagged fourth. Vidic grabbed the holeshot and took the second moto win. Breker ran second throughout the race; third and fourth places being fought for between Lance Moorewood on a DG Suzuki and Bla ckwe ll. Blackwell almost passed Moorewood but he went off the course. It took Blackwell a "fhile to ; catch Moorewood again. but he got by for third in the moto and third overall. Vidic won the moto and took second overall; Moorewood, who had ' a bad cold. picked up fourth overall. With 28 entrants in the -250 Pro race. Suzuki of Pomona star Gary Denton and Jeff Vidic of Crown Cycle switched first and second positions in . each mota. In oto one. holeshot artist Denton got the holeshot with Vidic right behind. The two pulled away from the rest of the pa ck . Breker switched motors ' for the 250s and moved into third . Donnie Hansen and Ron T urner, who both-suffered from bad starts, diced a ll through the moto a nd moved into fourth and fifth . Vidic got by Den ton for the win , Breker finis hed third, H a nsen fourth and Turner fifth . In moto two, Vidic snagged the holeshot with Denton following and H a nsen third. VALENCIA, CA , SEPT. 23 In the 500 P ro race . Andy Jannings (C-A-Bill Krause) launched a weekend winning strea k with back-to-back wins . He la ter came back to take home the overall victory for the 250 Pros. Sunday racing was no exception. Andy snapped up the 500 Pro win and took down a third overall out of a large field of 250 Pros. In the first rnoto for the 500 Pros. Jannings took control off the line with Dave Haugh in second. Mark White (Suz-Cole Bros.) running third and Cory Bogane holding down fourth. Bogane had Dean Taylor hot on his tail in fifth . Tight racing went on for the third place slot between White and Jerry Asher (Yam -Cycle Shack). Throughout the rnoto , it was a race in tandem between Jannings and Haugh for the lead and again . White and Asher in a struggle for third . White finally put a little space between , h im sel f and A sh e r and began . hounding Haugh . T h e fight continued to the , end of the moto as J a nn ings maintained his number one position . The second time around. J a nn ings again took over, only this time with Asher in second. White had third with Haugh right on , his tail. The whole moto was one long White-Haugh duel. Haugh managed to get by "White and went after Asher. Right down to the wire the chase continued, as Jann ings held a wide-open lead. When the checkered flag ca me out, Jannings sailed across to top m oney for the class, Haugh picked up second overall and third went to Asher. When the 250 Pros took off. D~ve Haugh was in command with Andy Jannings running second and Doug Nicol in third. This group had one of the most radical starts seen in a long time. At the top of the hill , three riders were high on each side of the hill, trying to squeeze into the chute. . Haugh pulled on through with the lead. J a n n ings stayed in close and Nicol was having a fantastic ride as a new 250 rider in third. These three - maintained their positions throughout the moto, The second time around . Jannings took over with Nicol in second. Haugh running third and Greg Torgerson holding down a strong fou rth for a new pro . Joe R oo t was right on top of Torgerson, push ing him mercilessly.
