Keith Chrisco, the eventual winner by default , brought out the first red flag with a fall in tum one. It was down hill from there with the race being called on lap two of the third restart when Tony Richardson crashed on the front straight. Then, for the first time ever in the southland, on October 22 , also a Saturday night, the first all Junior Speedway National with the top 16 Junior riders from northern and southern California racing in a straight -up scr a tc h championship program . This past Friday night again Mark Cherry won the scratch main event over an ailing Mike Bast. Mike has had the flu for two weeks. Mark will be going into the national with the second most po ints earned, and is just one of a half-dozen riders who could take the title away from the current champ. Top poin ts earned for the national wen t to Alan Christian a nd he was in top form during the handicap main event , which he won from the 50·yard line.
