T he second ra ce came dow n to a last -m in u te charge when , with Reid in seco nd place and need ing to pass Su n for th e overall win , he fell with onl y IwO laps 10 go. Aksland pulled a slingshot on Scott down th e backstraight (" Don't th ink I d idn't try to slingshot him ba ck ," sai d Hank later. ) a nd held the lead to win by a few feet. Kidd lost third place to Springste en (who had a bad sta rt , "The bike woul dn't shift") in th e fourt h corner. "H e got side ways comin g off an d I passed him ," sai d Sp ri nger.
