Jim Lesniewski topped two classes on Plymouth's new WFO lay out. T he favori te : Pete Watson , fresh off his Maicos to an R M370 with Simons forks . T he winner: Scott Statern , after a bruising, bike -bouncing, drag-ternout finish with Watson . Here again th e final moto was the clincher, and the riders "knew it. The gate dropped and the holeshot belonged to Brent Thurgood until his front tire went east instead of south on the big sweeper , leaving h im fa ce down for what followed . Statem, close behind , did the same and received a hard center-punch from Watson, also getting off. Next in line was Shane Burrows, who managed to avoid the fallen le aders and sped past uncontested for a moto three win. What followed Bu rrows was a finish plus by Pete W atson and Scott Sta tem. Ba rreli n g into the last tight left hander before the finish side by side, they locked bikes. With front wheels in the air, each yanking on their bars trying to out-wrestle the other , Statern 's front wheel , still clawing upward, crossed the line first by six inches, dr agging Watson's bike with Pete on his stomach sliding backwards on the seat, his right hand still clasped on the throttle, go ing for it . Still hoo ked up , they crashed on t he outer asphalt oval track . falling sideways, skidding to a halt. Statem realizing he 'd won as h e c ra wle d from underneath his bike , walked over to Watson and shook ' h ands . Pete could n' t help but sm ile . It was quite a ride! • Results in Results Sec tio n . Lesniewski wins two By John Therriault PLYMOUTH , CA , SEPT. 11 Plym ou th always offers one of t h e m ost d emanding t racks around.
