In both motos, Wiggins grabbed the ho leshot and in his usual style , won by almost half a lap with Phil Douglas second and George McNamara third . Wiggins won the All Pro Series in this division with wins in four of the five nights . In the 250 Pro race first rnoto, Dave Woodall took the lead with Phil Douglas right on his tail. Douglas shot past a surprised Woodall going into the first low jump in the first lap . The, a few minutes later in the sweeper, he went down and Woodall retook the lead. Insp ire of avery fast recovery Do uglas was unab le to catch Woodall - a second time and had to settle for second with Brad Kotsaris third . In the second m oto, Do uglas took the holeshot with Kotsa ris right on his back and Woodall third . In his rush to catch up , Woodall lost it coming out ' of the sweeper and, unable to recover, finished fifth behind George McNamara and Kevin Sinclair. With his seco nd overall, Kotsaris took the money in the Series for this division. Woodall fared better in the 125 Pro race. Sacto Night MX: Waxham, Minor and Preston tops By Sallee Hilton SACRAMENTO , CA . SEPT. 2 Dana Waxham , with the help of his Suzuki, took the top money in the 125 Pro class. Although he only won one of the three motos at this Sacramento Raceway event. he beat out the other moro winners , Dave Wood and Don nie Cantaloupi . for the overall. Wood (Suz) led all the way in the first moto, but Waxham was right behind him . Scott Henry (Suz) ran third while Canta loupi (Yam) was busy working up through the pack to finally pass Henry , In the last la p . Waxham m a de a last -ditch effort to take the lead away from Wood and went too wide on a turn. In the second mota Waxham was dialed in to win . The action was all behind him with Pat Yoho (Yam) and Mike PreSIOn (Suz) both wanting that second spot. Yoho held it for the first half of the race , then Preston took over. Cantaloupi again came from behind, getting by Yoho in the last seconds. Preston and Waxham came off the line together the third time out , but Cantaloupi wasn't way back this time and blew by both of them to lead the rest of the race. Preston and Waxham held their positions. Fourth and fifth spots were Lance Lollar (Suz) and Wood , dicing all , the way but maintaining position. With Waxham getting the overall Cantaloupi , Preston a nd Wood also got their cut of the 125 share of the $1000 purse. The first mota of the 250 class had Woodout front and Laine West (Suz) following . West stalled out in a turn and John Minor (Suz) and Kendall Powers pulled in behind Wood. The three lead ers had a real close race going and were later joined by Mike Jennings (Hus) . Jennings and Powers went down. dropping them back a little. Minor and Wood were dicingwhen Powers caught up ami joined in the fight for the first. In the last half of the last lap, all three went down and Minor got up in time to take the win. Jennings and Chalma Roberts ( KTM) also got by the downed riders for second and-third. In the beginning of the second round, Minor, Roberts, Powers and R ay Spore (Yam) were a tight lead group , Roberts stayed right on Minor's tail all the way to the checkered , Powers lost out in his attempt to hold off against the pressure Spore was . applying, and then succumbed to another attack by Wood in the last lap. Off the line in the third rnoto the order was Minor, Roberts , Wood and Powers out front . A sudden burst of speed put Powers in second and Wood followed the example and made it by R oberts . They were all close ; with Minor and Powers swapping spots, as we re Wood and Roberts. Powers finally made it far enough ou t front to hold on to his lead , leaving Minor to dice it out for second with Wood who almost took it away from him right in front of the checkered flag. Mike Bright (KTM) only stayed in the lead of the first Open Pro mota for a couple of laps before Preston , now on a KTM , took over and stretched it , out. Bright was being followed by Jeff Anselmo and Jeff . Shurtz, both on Maicos , Shurtz moved by Anselmo, and went on to take Bright too . Misfortune struck Bright. who went down with on y half a lap to go and Anselmo got third with Lance Bea ucha m p (Hus) taking fourth . . Jerry Barrick, Preston and Shurtz started out as leaders in the second mota, but all three went down in front of Beauchamp, slowing him j ust enough to let Charlie Marshall by on his new Husky automatic . After Marshall went down, Beauchamp took over the lead and got the win . Kevin Booth (KTM) was second followed by Anselmo and Shurtz. In t h e drag race off the start. Ba rrick came o ut on top. Preston raced hard with him, finally taking over the lead in mid- air off the big jump . Way back in third was Beauchamp, who was being pressured by Sh urtz. Shurtz managed 10 get by, . costing Beauchamp the overall win, P reston got th e big share of the cash and Shurtz took second money leaving Beauchamp with third . • Results in Results Section,
