Pros By Elaine Jones , CORONA, CA , AUG. 12 Steve Bauer, with all gears working in his Suzuki, had no trouble handling the 125cc MX Pros Friday night. Bauer had the lead by the firs t tum. Vince Van Hook andJeff Hollie, Irwindale boys , got the better starts, but their smalI lead was short lived. 250cc Pros had more stir-ern-up action as Mike Jacobs, Danny Jean and Kevin CalIaway went at it. The firs t . -, moto was Jean's and the n ight looked to be his. Jacobs h a d the second with Bill Tar1in~ third . Callaway had dropped to SIXth after a good getoff in the hi lls. The nigh t was far from over as the spectators saw when the gale dropped for the final. Jacobs felt it was his tum to win and went for it. Jean, in an attempt to catch him, dumped- it and it cost.him . CalIaway back in the pack had the best pass of the night as he took two riders in midair over a jump. Callaway moved himself into second while Jean got back up high enough to pick off third. Jacobs posted the win as his 2·1 was enough to beat out Jean by one point. Barbara Spielman did herself proud as she posted a secoad in the 250cc Intermediate. Tom Karos, who has been long overdue, put it alI together and stning two wins to take the , overall. Barbara got stuck in traffic the first moto and could do no better than fourth behind Pryor Campbell and Keith Doege. The second moto Barbara cooked while Campbell had a getoff which did not help his already bruised body. Campbell managed to finish fifth for enough points to tie Doege, but the third went to Doege with his higher second moto finish. Kelly CalIaway had little trouble disposing ofJim Lowe to win the 500cc Pro with two straight. .• Results in Results Section.
