Producer Matt Clmber sights through the cemera while co-star Frank Sinatra makes adjustments. Do it In the dirt will start filming for real at Hungry Valley Oct. 23 with a $3,000 CRC cross-country race•. .liDo It In the dirt" . ,Movie to star soeal hares'n'hounds . By Charles Clayton "H ong Kong doesn't answer," his secretary was trying to tell Matt Cim ber as we entered the movie producer's office on Sunset Blvd . last week. "They gotta answer ," Cimber, a powder keg in a safari suit, insisted, " It's a big movie studio. Keep trying!" as he ushered us into a conference room. ~ . "Tel! us about your movie, we prompted. . ' "00 .it in the dirt is all about a hound and hare, right, Hare 'n ' Hound race from the desert to the top of the mountains and 'back" (like Big Bea r both ways, we thought). "The hare, Jack Ramm , is played by Keenan . Wynn. We've already signed Keenan, he likes the movie" (Keenan is a great biker , too). "Remember Bite the Bullet?" (We missed it, but yeah.) "The movie is about % action , but it's got dramatic development, too . It's about fathers and sons and the tensions . .. it is a family picture. There's even a girl in the race , girls do race, don't they? " We assured him girls do . women too . Matt Cimber seemed relieved .. Matt's movie company , Doin -it , Inc. , has rented Hungry Valley, 80 miles north of Hollywood , for the month of October. They'd like to throw a real hare 'n' hound there , invite all the dirt bikers, and film it for their movie. Why not? we said. They are wiIling to put up a $!l000 purse. and H u ngry Valley, which is primo riding anyway, is slated to become a Green Sticky park soon (we hope) . This wiII be the first major event on HV land. How fitting that it shall benefit our native industry , moviemaking. CRC is handling the race itself. They m oved their O ctober 2!l Cal City event to the new Hungry Valley course, whch is being laid out as this is written. Matt Cimber has made a lot of movies (Black 6 , That Girl from Boston) and he obviously knows his business. We hope. Do it in the dirt wiII be another good movie so we don't have to sit in a theater and cringe, or laugh in the WTong places.
