The two battled until Ta ylor let his b ike get .away from him in a co rner . resigning th e lead to Tebbs. T aylor fell back to fifth , and Tebbs had smooth sailing almost to the end. In th e final la ps. Maxwell began to pressure the Husky pilot , but without su ccess. Maxwell · knew he already had th e overall win , and it wa s wiser no t to press his luck . The overall standings went Maxwell. Taylor , Tebbs; Karl Wilson (Suz) and Lowe . Taylor also had a close one in the 250 Pros . After a great battle with Dave Eropkin (Ya m) , he won the firs t moto . In th e seco nd bout , however, Eropkin managed to make it to th e flag first . gai ning top money. Third went to Kevin Call owa y (Ya m) . • Results in Results Sect ion. OTHG go for the moonshine at CRC GP By Bang Bang Bobo Ingram VALENC IA . CA .JULY 31 The lure of a long race or p ossibly the name attracted the O ver the Hill Gang to the California R acing Club (C RC) Moonshine GP at Indian Dunes. The whole gang went off th e line with CRC's Ve ts' and P uffs . Expert Lanky Larry (Yam) latched onto first place a t the scorekeeper's checkpoint and gained ground almost every lap. Jungle Joe (Ya m ) was not far behind , but couldn't ca tch the "Shoe. " Janitor Jerry (Yam) swept int o third ahead of Doper Dave (C-A ). -, In the Amateur class. Ruptured Rusty (Suz) rushed to the front , but paced himself for 50 m inutes of torturous rid ing to nab first place. Honky Herb (Ya m) hauled hastily through traffi c and was handed second place. Not -so-lucky Du Du Dan (Ya m) stalled twice in two wh iteknuckle stops to avoid crashing and had to play catch-up , taking third place at the finish . The int erm ed ia tes started with 10 rid ers and finished with five . . . the · many water crossings took their toll . Flaky Frank (Ma i), the intermediate's "fast guy" got a chance to 'stretch out' and found first place with no hass le. Nauseous Norm (Kaw) and Chunky Chuck (C ·A) dueled for second place with the nod going to Norm. Slimy Steve (Yam) was fourth to the · checkers. The novices, with the most riders at the line, surprisingly had only four D NFs. .Come-on-Chuck (Mai), came on and took first place. Second .p lace was caught by Cute Connie (Mai). Sorry Sandy (Pen) , who recently returned from the Baja wars, b a ttled bravely, beating Baboon Bob for third place slot.
