cept in this situa on," McElrath said af-
ter Wednesday's race. "I really needed
a win tonight and unfortunately came
up short. I was just a li le behind all
day today." McElrath led both starts in
Sunday's Shootout but couldn't match
Sexton's speed for another second.
"I'm pre y disappointed that I didn't
get the championship this year," he
said Sunday, "but since I've been on
this team, I've learned so much and
grown so much as a person and a rider.
I'm learning from my mistakes and
looking forward to moving on to the

"We were all really close in speed,
not a lot separa ng," said Webb a er
Wednesday's exci ng win over Tomac.
"I fixed the whoops about halfway—
I think that's what was holding me
back—and I started hi ng them really
well. It was a ght race...the whole
race it seemed like a lot of pressure
between us all because we weren't
making many mistakes. I'm sure it was
a fun race for the fans to watch and it
was a fun race to win, for sure." Webb
couldn't find the magic Sunday. "It was
a rough main event," he said. "I kind of
struggled with the track a li le bit and
I didn't ride my best race, but I came
back to eighth, so I was able to secure

happy and proud we finally
did it, it's unbelievable."
Tomac needed to place
just 19th in Sunday's final
main event of the season
to secure the title, even if
the closest rider to him in
the championship—Coo-
per Webb—won. But when
Webb (Red Bull KTM), who
kept the championship
going to the last round with
his third Wednesday win
in a row a few days earlier,
tangled with another rider
in the first turn and went
down, that essentially
sealed the deal for Tomac,
who went on to finish a
safe fifth in Sunday's race.
Webb went from 14th to
eighth to clinch second in
the championship over Ken
Roczen (Honda HRC), who
was seventh on the day.
Zach Osborne went
on to win the race, the
first 450SX victory of his
career. He was handed
a bit of a gift when the
seat broke off Jason
Anderson's bike a few laps
from the end while the
2018 champ was leading.
Osborne moved in for the
kill, passed the wounded
Anderson, and went on to
win. It was an all-Rockstar
Energy Husqvarna podium,
made up of Osborne, An-
derson and Dean Wilson,
who got on the podium
for the second time of his
career.

Tomac actually came one pass
away from clinching the 450SX title
a few days earlier. In Wednesday's
main event for round 16 of the
championship, he came back from
a bad start to challenge Cooper
Webb for the win. But Tomac came
up a little short and had to wait
until Sunday to seal the deal.
